Micah Green began playing music when he was growing up in Chappaqua, NY, where as a classically-trained percussionist he played the drums both in school groups and in a number of local bands. After a leg injury derailed his drumming career, Green made his way to Los Angeles where he began playing guitar and writing music while looking for work in the film business. By 1999, Green had returned to New York and began collaborating with producer Duncan Sheik, whose own 1996 debut earned him a Grammy nomination for “Best Male Vocal.” Released in 2001, Green’s self-titled debut was featured on KCRW and several songs from the album were featured on hit shows including Felicity, Dawson’s Creek and Smallville.
I Know, I Know, I Know found Micah Green and Duncan Sheik collaborating again. This time the recording process was stretched over several years, as both musicians juggled demanding work schedules on opposite coasts. Much of the recording was done in late night sessions at Sheik’s home studio in New York during Green’s frequent business trips to the city. Additional production was handled by Milo Decruz (Skylar Grey) in after-hours sessions at his home studio in Beachwood Canyon, Los Angeles.
